COLUMBUS, Ohio - Two Ohio men who allegedly murdered a Clifton man have been indicted in federal court on numerous charges.
Adam McClellan, 28, of Zanesville, Ohio, and Michael Haynie of Columbus, Ohio, were indicted by a federal grand jury Tuesday in Columbus on multiple charges, including interstate domestic violence, violent crimes/drugs/machine guns - causing death, racketeering and other charges, according to officials with the Federal Court, Southern District of Ohio.
The men are accused in the shooting death of Christopher Roush of Clifton on June 7. On that day, Haynie and McClellan allegedly drove from Meigs County, Ohio, to Mason County to Roush's home on Ann Street in Clifton. Around 10:30 p.m., Haynie apparently shot Roush, injured another man and then he and McClellan fled the scene toward Ohio and the Columbus area.
Troopers with the Mason County Detachment of the West Virginia State Police responded to the call and began an investigation that lasted six weeks. At the time of the investigation, troopers believed the homicide was drug-related.
On July 21, the FBI arrested Haynie in Columbus on a warrant from West Virginia. He was charged federally in Columbus. McClellan turned himself in to the FBI in Columbus a few days later.
Police had investigated another suspect, Elisha L. Dickens (aka Lacey Dickens), 29, of Meigs County, Ohio, who was arrested July 23 by the Meigs County Sheriff's Department on a parole violation. Haynie and McClellan were taken to the Franklin County Jail in Columbus.
Both men may face the death penalty in the case or life in a federal prison if found guilty of the charges.
