THREE people were shot and two stabbed during the bloody and infamous "Ballroom Blitz" brawl between rival outlaw motorcycle gangs on the Gold Coast, a court has been told.
Graphic video footage of the fight at the Royal Pines Resort on March 18, 2006 was shown in the Brisbane District Court this afternoon.
The footage showed an organised kickboxing fight attended by 1800 people descend into chaos as members of the Hell's Angels and Finks threw punches, chairs and glasses.
One member of the Hell's Angels, Christopher Hudson, survived after being shot in the jaw and back.
It is believed the shooting was retribution for the former Finks member's decision to change clubs.
He has pleaded guilty to one count of murder, two of attempted murder and one of intentionally causing serious injury.
The court was told two others were shot during the melee on the Gold Coast while another two were stabbed.
Finks members Nicholas "The Knife" John Forbes, 39, and Shane Scott Bowden, 36, are both being sentenced today for their involvement in the fight.
Forbes has pleaded guilty to one count of assault occasioning bodily harm while armed, six counts of assault occasioning bodily harm in company and one of grievous bodily harm relating to another incident on the Gold Coast earlier this year.
Bowden has pleaded guilty to one count each of assault occasioning bodily harm, unlawful wounding with intent to maim and discharging a weapon in a public place.
Hudson is facing a potential life sentence in Victoria for a drug and alcohol-fuelled shooting spree in Melbourne last year that left one man dead and two other people injured.
The court was told Forbes started the fight when he confronted Hudson. He punched him repeatedly before Bowden pulled out a handgun and shot him twice, hitting him once in the back and once in the jaw.
Forbes and Bowden then continued to attack Hudson, holding him against the kickboxing ring while they punched him.
Hudson eventually managed to escape and was taken to hospital where he was treated for his injuries.
Forbes and Bowden were both identified from video footage and handed themselves in to police in April.
Judge Milton Griffin will sentence the pair tomorrow.
