FORMER Australian Rules Football star Wayne Carey's brother Kevin will plead guilty to a drug-related charge if his case is heard by a magistrate, his lawyer says.
The Melbourne Magistrates' Court heard today that heavy rollers containing drug-making chemicals capable of making six to 13 kilograms of pure amphetamine were intercepted by customs officers last year.
The court heard the powder was removed and the rollers were reconstructed and Australian Federal Police monitored their delivery.
The court heard Kevin Carey drove the rollers to a location and then helped his co-accused open them.
His lawyer Moawee Ghaly said his client would be prepared to admit to a charge of attempt to possess a precursor chemical if his case was heard by a magistrate, rather than in the Victorian County Court.
The Crown prosecutor opposed the application.
Magistrate Sarah Dawes will decide on the application on Tuesday.
