(11-05) 16:10 PST SAN FRANCISCO -- A man was arrested today in connection with a marijuana-growing operation at a home in San Francisco's Sunset District, the latest in a spate of raids in the neighborhood, police said.

Michael Schummel, 53, was arrested about 10:15 a.m. after police served a search warrant at a home on the 2400 block of 40th Ave., said Officer Samson Chan, a Police Department spokesman.

Investigators seized 183 marijuana plants, of which 50 were mature, as well as two handguns, Chan said.

Schummel was booked on suspicion of possession of marijuana for sale, marijuana cultivation, possession of hashish and possession of a firearm while cultivating drugs.
