Washington Sets 60-Day Limit on Medical Marijuana Supply to 1.5 Pounds

On Thursday, a new rule was finalized by the state of Washington that sets limits for medical marijuana patients on the number of plants and usable pot. Ten years ago, an initiative was passed there by voters allowing sick people to use marijuana.

But since then, the amount that constitutes a 60-day supply was vague, and so last year the state's health department was told to work with medical experts and law enforcement to define it. 24 ounces and 15 plants, mature or immature, is the rule.

One attorney said some sick will just be left alone. "If you're in King County and you're dying of cancer, we're not going to prosecute you if you have 15 plants or 30. If somebody is legitimately ill, we're not going to prosecute that case, period."
