Missing baby's parents were investigated
Florida child-welfare workers began investigating allegations of abuse against a missing infant less than two weeks after she was born, according to records released Wednesday as the search continued. Search teams have spent days searching for 7-month-old Shannon Dedrick in the wooded area surrounding the family's mobile home outside of Chipley. The girl was reported missing around 11 a.m. Saturday. The Florida Department of Children and Families released records Wednesday showing investigators frequently visited the infant's home from August to late September. They reported that both of the parents used marijuana and the home was messy. But the investigators said the baby appeared to be cared for. The risk to the child was repeatedly listed as "intermediate." The Washington County Sheriff's Office has offered a reward of up to $10,000 for more information regarding the whereabouts of Shannon.
* TALLAHASSEE
Advance America robbed: Two masked men, one armed with a handgun, robbed the Advance America, 3111 Mahan Drive, on Wednesday at about 2:20 p.m., according to the Tallahassee Police Department. Officers were told that the men entered the business, demanded cash, and left through the rear door. No one was injured. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact TPD at (850) 891-4200 or Crime Stoppers at (850) 574-TIPS (8477).
Doctor's license restricted: The Florida Surgeon General has ordered an emergency restriction on the license of one of the doctors arrested this week on charges of prescribing weight-loss medicine without first examining his patients, a third-degree felony. Dr. Stephen W. Duncan, a local gynecologist, is "prohibited from prescribing, dispensing or administering any medication, drug, synthetic compound, nutritional supplement or herbal treatment for the purpose of weight loss." Dr. Mark Hash was also arrested on Monday on similar charges, but no action has been taken on his license, according to DOH.

No injuries in apartment fire: The Tallahassee Fire Department responded to a fire at Sandpebbles Apartments in the 2600 block of West Pensacola Street on Wednesday, TFD spokesman Travis Oaks said. The fire was contained to the kitchen and no one was injured. Damage is estimated at $35,000.
Politics, Partisans & A Pint: The Village Square is kicking off a monthly first Thursday happy hour today with "Politics, Partisans & A Pint." The event begins at 5 p.m. at Finnegan's Wake off of Thomasville Road at MANOR @ midtown. There will be a short 10-minute program featuring a hot local topic or local person beginning at 5:30. Mega Money: One ticket sold in Stock Island matched all four numbers and the MegaBall in Tuesday's Mega Money drawing of the Florida Lottery. The ticket with the numbers 10-16-22-34; and Mega Ball 8 is worth $650,000. The 17 tickets that matched four of the numbers and are worth $398.50 each and the 65 tickets matching three numbers and the MegaBall are worth $228 each.
Fla. Fantasy 5: Six tickets sold in Pensacola, Hialeah, Belleview, Miami and Pembroke matched all five numbers in Tuesday's Fantasy 5 drawing of the Florida Lottery. The tickets with the numbers 7-12-15-18-21 are worth $34,895.46. The 454 tickets matching four numbers are worth $74 each, and the 11,707 matching three numbers are worth $8 each.
Mega Millions: No tickets matched all five numbers and the Mega Ball number in Tuesday's multistate Mega Millions drawing. The numbers drawn were 5-18-23-31-38; the Mega Ball was 20. The estimated jackpot for Friday's drawing is $63 million.
Ga. Fantasy 5: One ticket sold in Buford matched all five numbers in Tuesday's Fantasy 5 drawing of the Georgia Lottery. The ticket with the numbers 6-10-12-17-27 is worth $218,968 each. The 162 tickets matching four numbers are worth $116 each, and the 4,887 tickets matching three numbers are worth $218,968 each.
