Bail hearing set for New Waterford couple accused of drug trafficking

Cape Breton Post Published: 19 hours ago

['Cape Breton Post court news']

SYDNEY, N.S. - A New Waterford couple is to return to provincial court Friday for a bail hearing after again being charged with breaching their release conditions.

Gordon Trevor Hibbert, 29, of Hinchey Avenue is charged with three counts of breaching his conditions by failing to behave, having contact with his co-accused and failing to stay away from St. Joseph Street.

Renee Marie McLeod, 28, of St. Joseph Street, is facing two counts of breach in failing to behave and failing to not have contact with Hibbert.

The offences for both are to have occurred July 6.

The couple were first charged last Oct. 11 with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking (hydromorphone and Ritalin), and single counts of trafficking in Ritalin and possession of marijuana. The offences are alleged to have occurred in New Waterford.

Earlier this year, the couple was again charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking involving cocaine and Ritalin along with a single count of possession of Ritalin.

The pair is also facing three counts of breaching court orders by failing to behave, abstain from drug possession and weapon possession.

Hibbert faces an additional charge of obstructing a police officer.

The couple now continue to be on remand pending the outcome of Friday's bail hearing.
