With enough snow, you can take a sleigh ride to the camp ground and enjoy cocoa, roasted marshmallows and even pick out your own tree.

The Boy Scouts are also selling these snowmen and reindeer to help their fund-raising efforts.

Just a few miles south of Estes Park, the Dao House provides a unique setting and a multitude of experiences. One special holiday adventure, available until Dec. 20, is the sleigh ride and Christmas tree experience.

Starting at the Dao House, you and your family will have a horse drawn sleigh or wagon ride, depending on the weather, up the mountain to a camp site. There will be a bonfire for roasting marshmallows and drinking hot cocoa. If you desire, you can pick out a christmas tree at the campsite and bring it back down the mountain in your sleigh. Local Boy Scouts will help you along the way, as this event also serves as a fundraiser for the Boy Scouts.

"We are always looking to get into the community and help with the community," Brian Press said, a representative with the Dao House about why they partnered with the Boy Scouts for this event.

The Dao House is a unique venue and wellness destination in Estes Park. It offers a great place for a family to reconnect with each other and nature. The sleigh ride has turned into an event that families and couples really enjoy.

"Last year the event was extremely successful," Press said.

Trevor, who leads the rides for the Dao House, is knowledgeable of the surrounding area and nature and will answer questions from the riders. Some families or couple also enjoy singing Christmas carols or holiday songs during their ride. No matter what you choose to do, it is an incredible experience to have and an opportunity to enjoy the beautiful surroundings in Estes Park.

The experience takes about an hour Press said, and provides a way to disconnect from technology and reconnect with nature. The Dao House also offers many wellness oriented activities and events. Utilize their oxygen bar to rid yourself of altitude sickness, or come early on a Sunday and experience their Tai Chi class.

Space is still available, but reservations are filling up quickly. Call (970) 577-3448 to reserve your ride and make sure to mention if you would like to purchase a Christmas tree as well. When you mention the tree ride, a portion of the ride amount is donated to the Boy Scouts.
