Current News Voters saying no to marijuana establishments - UPDATED 5 a.m. November 7 Tuesday, November 6, 2018 A measure that would allow marijuana distribution establishments in the City of Sisters was headed for defeat Wednesday morning, with 56 percent of City voters saying no.

Nancy Connolly is the leading vote-getter among three city council candidates in Sisters, earning a four-year term on Sisters City Council. Michael Preedin will also serve for four years, and Richard Esterman will serve for two years.

The tight Position 3 race for Deschutes County Commissioner appeared to be swinging toward Republican Patti Adair of Sisters early Wednesday morning, as she held a 50.64 percent to 49.23 percent lead over Democrat James Cook of Redmond

Tony DeBone appears to be holding onto Deschutes County Commission Position 1, with a 51 to 49 percent lead over Democrat challenger Amy Lowes.

A multi-agency investigation led to the arrest of two people in Sisters in connection with alleged illegal manufacturing and sale of marijuana.

According to law enforcement, the action was part of an ongoing, long-term investigation. Members of the Central Oregon Emergency Response Team (CERT) assisted with the execution of the warrant.
