The Oregonian/OregonLive

The Oregon Department of Transportation has announced it will close Oregon 99E in both directions just south of the Oregon City tunnel 5 a.m. Saturday through 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10-11, for crews to bring down rocks that threaten to fall on the road.

Rock scalers will remove loose and threatening rocks identified after a smaller slide on Oct. 28. An inspection off the slope, which reaches 80 feet above the road in some sections, revealed numerous rocks in danger of falling. This area has a long history of rockfall.

The detours are long and take travelers well out of their way. ODOT recommends drivers avoid the are all together - southbound trucks should take Interstate 205 to Oregon 213. Northbound trucks should take Barlow Road to Interstate 5. Local residents will be allowed through when possible. Expect long delays.

Heads up: for this coming weekend in Vancouver. The Washington State Department of Transportation has chosen this weekend to reschedule the closure of SR 500 in BOTH directions between St. Johns Road and Andresen Road. All lanes will be closed from 11 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, until 4 a.m. Monday, Nov. 12.

During the closure: * Both directions of SR 500 will close between St. Johns Road and Andresen Road.

* Drivers will not be able to cross SR 500 at these intersections or travel on SR 500 between St. Johns and Andresen.

* Travelers using sidewalks or bicycle facilities will no longer be able cross SR 500 at Northeast Stapleton Road/Northeast 54th Avenue once the closure begins.

* Travelers should plan ahead and use alternate routes.

TUALATIN 7:31 a.m.; Crash blocks the left lane of I-5 northbound just north of the I-205 interchange.

Update 7:45 a.m.; Cleared.

HILLSBORO 7:23 a.m.; A crash has closed both directions of OR 8 (Tualatin Valley Highway) at Imlay Avenue near Movies on TV.

Update 7:59 a.m.; Crash has cleared, all lanes on OR 8 now open.

SOUTHWEST PORTLAND 7 a.m.; Injury crash on Southwest Barbur Boulevard at 22nd Avenue.

HILLSBORO 6:35 a.m.; Possible injury crash on 10th Avenue at Walnut Street.

Construction work in downtown Portland has closed Southwest Clay Street between Fifth and Sixth avenues until 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9. During the work, sidewalks on streets around the 1515 Market Street Building will also be closed. Drivers and pedestrians need to find an alternate route.

In Vancouver, bridge work on Padden Parkway will close the northbound Interstate 205 off-ramp to westbound Padden Parkway 9 p.m.-5 a.m. through Thursday, Nov. 8. Choose an alternate route.
