Two more arrested in drug-related robbery

By January Rutherford -

10/15/20 6:36 PM

The Seymour Police Department has made two more arrests in Monday's drug-related robbery on North Ewing Street that led to a male suffering a gunshot wound.

Public Information Officer Jeremy Helmsing said a total of three people have been arrested so far, including a 17-year-old male juvenile, for their involvement in the incident, but more arrests are expected.

"Detectives are still building a case on other subjects," he said Thursday.

On Tuesday, police arrested Amelia Mize-Martinez, 19, of Seymour on drug charges, including dealing marijuana, possession of marijuana, maintaining a common nuisance and possession of paraphernalia.

Kianna Deleon

Another woman, Kianna M. Deleon, 26, of Medora was arrested Monday on a charge of robbery.

At 3:15 a.m. Monday, officers responded to a report of a person with a gunshot wound at a home at 916 N. Ewing St., Seymour.

During the incident, several people forcibly entered the home of someone they knew over drug-related motives while armed with a stolen handgun, Helmsing said.

A physical struggle ensued, and a firearm was used, resulting in one of the entrants being struck by gunfire, he said.

That individual, a man, suffered a gunshot wound and was flown to an area hospital for medical treatment, where he was listed in stable condition Tuesday, Helmsing said.

"Several adults and juveniles are believed to be involved, and multiple arrests and charges are forthcoming relating to this incident," Helmsing said.
