A 10-year-old Jefferson Elementary School student was arrested Wednesday after allegedly bringing cocaine onto campus, according to Seguin Police.
Officers were dispatched to the Seguin Independent School District campus at around 9:43 a.m. after a student reported finding a small, clear bag containing a white substance inside a desk.
The Seguin Police Department said it conducted a field test of the substance and confirmed it was cocaine. Officers identified a fifth-grade female student as the individual who brought the drug to school.

The juvenile was detained and transported to the Guadalupe County Juvenile Probation Department on a charge of possession of a substance in a drug-free zone. It's unclear where the child obtained the cocaine.
Jefferson Elementary School Principal Maria Guerra sent an email informing families of the incident, writing that the student will face disciplinary actions "per school policy and the law."
"This serves as a reminder of the importance of discussing the dangers of drugs with our children and encouraging them to report any concerning situations to an adult," she said.
