BCSO: San Antonio mother accused of abandoning children was found drinking
Misty Dawn Lewis left her two children unattended for more than 10 hours as she went out to drink alcohol, Bexar County sheriff's deputies said.

Misty Dawn Lewis, 36, is charged with abandoning or endangering a child without intent to return, and possession of a controlled substance, according to the Bexar County Sheriff's Office. A woman is accused of leaving her children home alone for several hours as she went to drink alcohol.
Misty Dawn Lewis, 36, was arrested and charged with abandoning or endangering a child without intent to return, and possession of a controlled substance, according to Bexar County court records. A judge set her bail at $12,500.
Lewis' oldest child, a 12-year-old girl, called 911 on Jan. 18.

She told Bexar County sheriff's deputies that her mother left home at 5 p.m.
The mother had told her children, ages 9 and 12, that she was only going to pick up a package from a friend nearby. However, she did not return, Bexar County sheriff's deputies said.
Deputies said it became clear during their investigation that the children had been left unsupervised for more than 10 hours.
Concerned for the children's safety, deputies pinged Lewis' cell phone. The ping led them to a location on Flipper Drive in San Antonio.

When deputies found Lewis, she appeared intoxicated and smelled of alcohol, according to their report.
When questioned, Lewis told deputies she had left her children at home alone. Deputies also found a small amount of cocaine on her and took her into custody.
