YOUR NEWS AT 5. }} THANK YOU FOR COUNTING ON NBC 2. I'M KELLIE BURNS AND I'M PETER BUSCH. THIS CRIME SPREE STARTED AT THE BEST BUY AT PAGE FIELD COMMONS IN FORT MYERS. THAT'S WHERE A DEPUTY WAS HIT BY A CAR TRYING TO STOP 3 SHOPLIFTERS. THE CARJACKING WAS IN THE GUSTS TO BELLA VITA COMMUNITY IN COLLIER COUNTY. AND THE CHASE ENDED ON ALLIGATOR ALLEY. NBC TWO'S ELECTABLE AS IS LIVE OUTSIDE THE NAPLES JAIL CENTER WHERE THAT CARJACKING SUSPECT IS LOCKED UP TONIGHT. }} THE VICTIM OF A CARJACKING SAID HE FEARED FOR HIS LIFE. AT ONE POINT HE WAS JUST OUTSIDE OF HIS HOME, WASHING HIS WINDOW SCREENS WHEN A STRANGE MAN APPEARED ON HIS DRIVEWAY. }} WHEN I SAW THE HELICOPTER ON TOP, SO I KNEW SOMETHING WAS GOING ON AND OVER THE THIS MAN BUT I FEEL WHEN I SAW WAS ON WAIT COUPLE FEET OF THE GARAGE. SO A GAME. I KNEW RIGHT AWAY. THAT IS THE PERSON THEY LOOKING FOR. AND I BOTH CAME THAT HE NEEDS LEAVE. }} IMMEDIATELY START CHAIR GOFF SAID PAUL FRONTS AND DIDN'T STOP. INSTEAD HE WENT INTO THE GARAGE WHEN CHERTOFF WENT TO GRAB HIS PHONE TO CALL 9-1-1, HE SOLD THE CAR KEYS ON THE WALL. }} INSIGHT JUST GOT THE CASE. AND ON DOORS IN THE CAR. I IMMEDIATELY AND ON OFF GAME. BUT HE WAS ON IN THE IN THE CAR AND IT WITH BUSH ABOUT THEM. SO I OPENED THE DOOR, TRIED TO PULL HIM OUT. AND I I WAS ABLE TO GRAB THE KEYS FROM HIS HAND. BUT THE CAR TO THE WRITING. SO HE ON THE GAS AND LESS QUICK TO POST NOTE OPEN. }} BUT BEFORE THE CARJACKING IN COLLIER, THIS ALL STARTED IN LEE COUNTY AT THE BEST BUY IN PAGE FIELD COMMONS WHEN FITZ AND BACKED UP INTO A DEPUTY IN THE PARKING LOT. THURSDAY AFTERNOON, THE DEPUTY WAS TRYING TO STOP HIM INTO OTHER THEFT SUSPECTS. WALTER AT WELL, AND I SHOW HOW THEIR WATSON, FRITZ AND THEN THE DEPUTIES AND TROOPERS ON A HIGH-SPEED CHASE FROM LEE TO COLLIER, WHERE HE ABANDONED HIS CAR AND STOLE CHUR COUGHS. THEY STOPPED HIM AFTER HE DROVE THROUGH THE ALLIGATOR ALLEY TOLL BOOTH WHERE THEY DID A PIT MANEUVER FRITZ AND THEN RAN TOWARD A FENCE AND CLIMBED ONE. A COLLIER COUNTY DEPUTY RAMMED INTO HIM. OFFICE. JUST GRATEFUL THAT HIS 2 KIDS WERE STILL AT SCHOOL WHEN THIS HAPPENED AND THAT HE IS OK, PAUL FRITZ AND DID NOT APPEAR BEFORE A JUDGE, BUT A JUDGE STILL DENIED BOND FOR THIS CARJACKING. }}

Multiple agencies are on the scene of an incident along Interstate 75 on Thursday afternoon. Collier County Sheriff's Office vehicles and Florida Highway Patrol troopers were seen surrounding a car near mile marker 100 on southbound Alligator Alley just past the toll plaza.The Lee County Sheriff's Office confirmed a K9 deputy responded to the Best Buy at Page Field Commons for three people accused of being involved in a theft ring.Deputies say when they arrived, they saw one of the suspects, later identified as Walter Lee Atwell, walking away.The deputy detained Atwell and the other two passengers, Aisha Yukari Heller-Watson and Paul Fritzson, for questioning.During the brief interaction, Heller-Watson got out of the car, and Fritzson moved from the backseat into the driver's seat, where a physical altercation began between the deputy and Fritzson.During that time, Fritzson started the car and reversed, hitting the deputy before speeding away. This was connected to a scene in Collier County, according to LCSO. The deputy suffered minor injuries and is OK, LCSO said.Deputies said Fritzson then led deputies on a pursuit toward Collier County.Fritzson reportedly abandoned a Nissan Sentra he was driving and carjacked Stoyan Chergov's Mazda CX-5 in the Gusto Bella Vita community in Naples. Chergov was not injured, but he recounted the terrifying moment he saw Fritzson appear in his driveway."When I saw the helicopter overhead, I knew something was going on. All of a sudden, this man appeared right here. When I saw him, he was already on my driveway, just a couple of feet from the garage. I knew right away that he was the person they were looking for. I told him he needed to leave immediately," Chergov said.Instead, Fritzson went into the garage.When Chergov went to grab his phone to call 911, Fritzson went for the hanging car keys. "I immediately ran after him, but he was already in the car and started it -- it's push-button. I opened the door and tried to pull him out. I was able to grab the keys from his hand, but the car was already running. He stepped on the gas and left full speed with the door open," said Chergov. The chase ended near the I-75 toll plaza at Exit 101 in Collier County. Fritzson tried to run toward a fence on the roadway, but as he climbed it, a CCSO hit the fence.Fritzson was arrested following the carjacking and the pursuit. He faces charges of carjacking, fleeing and eluding charges in Collier County. In Lee County, he faces charges of aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer and fleeing and eluding.Atwell is accused of giving a fake name to deputies and was charged with Fraud (False ID Given to LEO) and for an Out-of-County Warrant. Heller-Watson faces charges of Resisting without Violence. Fritzson fell from the fence and was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
